You band members have been doing a horrible job on keeping this community alive...

I ask that you atleast keep up the tradition of posting who all makes it the festivals this year, as that's just something good to do so those people can receive some praise.

Right now, District Band and IUP Honor Band are being decided, so you should let us know. Orchestra would be good too, but they don't audition for Districts, so I don't know if that's necessary.

So anyone, please try to keep this community alive and let us all know who made what these days. I've only heard 1 or 2 names for IUP Honor Band (and those people have my condolences... biggest waste of time band I've ever done) and I want to hear everyone else.

Just your friendly neighborhood Band Alumni Tim,

I know for alumni band that there is traditionally band football earlier in the afternoon. I would guess somewhere around twelve or one. I can only speak for me, but i would like to come back and play some good old fashion band football. So if the coordinator/s could get back to me on when band football is, that would be awesome. Until then, i got my eyes on you guys, you sneaky band people!!!!

hokay, so, this thursday W.E. is performing their first and final concert for the 2006-2007 school year.

YAY!  HURRAH!

ok,
we're playing
Windsprints- A nice little ditty that was obviously written by a woodwind player. No offense to woodwinds, it just has a lot of quick runs....like Diarrhea.
Pavanne for a Dead Puppy--I mean- Princess.  It's cute and I have a solo.  eat it.

American Salute-  YAY AMERICA AND JOHNNY COMES MARCHING HOME!  Mr. D always has to play a song that is seeping with American paraphernalia.

October-  If you hate this song, I WILL KILL.  It's beautiful.

William Tell-- totally cute.

it should be good.

So, uhh, go!

I think it's at 7 or 7:30.

Alright, since I'm very behind, here's the people who have qualified and WILL be moving on to State Band:
Kevin Longwill - Percussion
Jeremy Hetrick - Trumpet

However, in addition to those two, these two qualified for state band, but are already attending state orchestra:
Richard Ebersole - Bari Sax (will be attending Orchestra on Clarinet)
Lindsey Falbo - French Horn

In other news, the Adv. Jazz Band is competing this Saturday in a PMEA festival (I think?) at State College. It's a competition, so obviously, we want to do well. The three songs we will be performing are "Cruisin' for a Bluesin'", "Night Flight", and "A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square". I probably messed up the spelling on the last one, which is a vocal. We also have our Jazz Band concert on April 26, with a Senior Citizens Dance on the 27.

May, there will be concerts every thursday the whole month. I think the order is Orchestra, Concert Band, Chorus, and Wind Ensemble, though I could be VERY wrong, so don't take me on that. I only know taht Wind Ensemble goes on the last thursday, which is the 24 I believe, since the 31st is the day before prom, and it will be over before then.

So, schedule is thus:
April 14 - Adv. Jazz Band competes at State College
April 26 - Jazz Band concerts
April 27 - Senior Citizens Dance
May 3 - concert (Orchestra I think)
May 10 - concert (Chorus I think)
May 17 - concert (Concert Band I think)
May 24 - Wind Ensemble concert

As for the Band trip, I didn't list that because frankly, I forget when it is... Sorry :)

I know noone uses this livejournal like they used to, but as Dan and I are graduating this year, I felt it may be good to find new moderators for the board. Kristin, being the general overlord (haha) of this journal will, of course, have to approve it. So, we're looking for those from the class of '08 or class of '09 to take over the duties of maintaining this journal. I doubt anyone from the class of '10 knows about this, and besides, they'd be sophmores, so forget that. If interested in modding this board and continuing it to grow, please comment this entry.

Hope everyone is having a good last MP of the school year, or last few weeks of college for graduates :)

Not sure if someone else has posted it or not, but I figured I better post it just in case...

Those advancing to states so far are...

State Vocal Jazz:
Amber Mallow

State Orchestra:
Jess Rabuck - Cello
Richard Ebersole - Clarinet
Lindsey Falbo - French Horn

State Band people will be known after the regional band festival is over... (March 21-24).

Good luck to all the people going to Regional Band in a week or two ( i reall have no idea.) But this is to every band member that has second period band. As most of you have heard, County Band was as good as another Steven Seagal movie. And i know Mr. D openly admitted different comments about his displeasure with county band. IF anyone would care to share what he said, that is in second period band, or just heard him say random things, you know what to do. Go to the bottom right hand corner, and write a comment. KThanks

I've kind of lost track of the whole live journal thing, but I'm back!

Good luck to all the band members who will attend festivals in the upcoming weeks. Also, I'm still wondering if alumn and current students would like to still hold a summer concert like many have talked about in the past few years. Hope everything going great!

steelerdaddy
Well, hi!  Had a few moments, thought I'd finally post.

I'm betting I'm the oldest guy on here (Unless Drew's lurking on LJ somewhere.)

Shawn, Class of '88, Baritone/Euphonium.  Some of you might have met me on one of the last two alum nights - I'm the guy that graduated with Drew and was involved in THAT incident when he and I were seniors (I'm sure most of you have heard about it.)

Anyhow, I'm here, I'm lurking, hope everyone's having fun.

In harmony,
Shawn (Who remembers when the underclassmen weren't allowed on the Senior bus unless they were cool - but then, by the time I was in senior, I wasn't even in band...yeah, THAT incident. :)

Disclaimer: This is not aimed towards anyone that was in the back of the bus except whitfield and wagner, and the litte ..... who was throwing bottles.

So, Sophmores? Juniors? where the .... do you get off throwing .... at SENIORS in the back of the bus. Grow the .... up. It dosent take much to .... me off, and im normally easy to get along with, but dont .... with me. To Whitfield, if i wanted to have hit you with a bottle, you would have had a black eye. Stay away from me, and i will stay away from you.
And Wagner, put your hand around my neck again, and you ever get me to the point i was at again tonight, all the bones in your hand will be broken.
And to the bottle thrower, stay away from me, or atleast tell me who you are. I wont do anything to you, i just want to know where you get off doing .... like that.
Granted i might have been a ..... and out of line, and alittle ..... That is when you just leave me alone.

I give permission to the editors of the site if they do not find this suitable to erase this. Because it isnt necessarily complete because i dont feel like bring back old wounds.

As I sit here, not wishing to start my homework, I decided to update the band news...

First, Senior night for football has come and gone. Our senior song was Scream Machine. However, football season is NOT over, as Altoona made the playoffs, and our next game is this coming saturday at 1 PM at Central Dauphin Middle School... So, no Veteran's day parade (yay), but a nice 2 and 1/2 to 3 hour bus ride, a game, and then back... yeah, bye bye saturday.

In other news, the Bandarama concert went very well, atleast in my opinion. For any of the graduating class that didn't get to hear it, I will upload some songs from it if people tell me how, k?

Anyway, as of now, there will be no holiday jazz concert this year, but instead, a community dance to replace it.

IUP Honor Band tryouts were today, and the following people have placed for it:
Richard Ebersole
Ben Cossiter
Lindsey Falbo
Kevin Longwill
Jeremy Hetrick
as well as myself

The final bit of news is that District Band tryouts will be on the 19th of November, and I'll post results of that when it gets there...

so yeah... hope everyone's having a nice November so far?
